H.E. Maithripala Sirisena appointed as the President of the International Summit Council for Peace (ISCP)His Excellency Maithripala Sirisena,

the 6th Executive President of Sri Lanka and the leader of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party was appointed as the president of International Summit Council for Peace (ISCP) at the International Leadership Conference affiliated to the Universal Peace Federation held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia from the 21st- 24th July 2023.The World Peace Conference Council was founded in South Korea in 1987 to achieve world peace. But the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) relaunched the International Summit Council for Peace as a separate entity focusing on Democracy, Sustainable Development, Security and Peace, during the World Peace Summit held in 2019. World leaders, members of parliament, academics and researchers, social activists, and journalists from around 110 countries across the world hold the membership of this federation.The Universal Peace Federation is an NGO in General Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). Its headquarters is located in Seoul, South Korea, and its international secretariat is located in New York, United States.World leaders, Members of Parliament and special representatives from around 50 countries participated in the conference where the President Maithripala Sirisena was appointed as the president of the International Summit Council for Peace (ISCP).
